Frequently asked questions
Every Laurel Denise planner offers a unique blend of daily, weekly, and monthly views to help you stay organized. Some layouts focus on just monthly or weekly views, while others combine weekly, monthly, and even daily pages for more detailed planning.
The Nancy features short weekly pages in the center with horizontal rows, sitting on either side of the coil when the planner is open.
The Anne has short weekly pages in the center with vertical, lined columns for time-blocked scheduling.
The Scout is spiral-bound, with short weekly and daily pages running along the bottom. Each day has a lined vertical column for structured planning.
The Rose doesn’t include short daily or weekly pages around the coil (though inserts can be added!). It offers a large monthly view on the left and space for categorized lists or brain drops on the right.
The Carmen is our most traditional layout, featuring a large monthly planner.

Choosing a planner size is a big decision, and handwriting size can matter. We have images on each product listing showing several people's handwriting so that you can see how your handwriting compares and which size to pick based on that.
Plus, we offer a free size comparison printable so you can test your handwriting in each layout before purchasing.

Small Size: Small but mighty

- Less open space helps keep things feeling manageable for beginners
- About the size of a cookbook or a sheet of paper (just a few inches shorter)
Large Size: Room to breathe
- Ideal for juggling work, personal life, kids, and all your lists
- Plenty of space for detailed planning, notes, and to-dos
- Portable enough to carry (about the size of a slim laptop)
- Great if you want to spread out and see your whole week at a glance

While we don’t offer customizations to the layout or cover (due to production costs and timelines), our planners are still totally customizable, just in your own creative way!
For the inside:
We offer a growing collection of Planner Inserts designed to fit our coil-bound and spiral-bound planners. Whether you need space for detailed lists, lesson plans, project planning, or something else entirely, there’s likely an insert (or booster pack!) that fits your needs. Just be sure to select the insert size that matches your specific planner.
Note: Inserts are not compatible with our sewn/bookbound planners due to the fixed binding.
For the outside:
Many customers personalize their covers with stickers, washi tape, vinyl decals, and even paint, and we love seeing all the ways you make it your own!
We offer a few different formats so you can choose the one that fits your schedule best. Each one includes 12 months of planning:
- Calendar Year Planners (Yearly) – Dated January through December
- Academic Planners (Mid-Year) – Dated July through June, perfect for the school year
- Undated Planners – Totally flexible! You fill in the dates as you go. This one is a great choice if you want to start your month and your weeks on different days or if your life doesn't start on a Monday or a Sunday.
At this time, we don’t offer an 18-month planner. We’ve found that keeping the format to 12 months helps reduce bulk, keeps things more lightweight, and allows us to keep pricing as approachable as possible.
Planning beyond a year? Many of our customers like to keep a second planner on hand for future planning or use our Insert Packs and Sticky Notes to jot down what’s ahead before transferring it into their next planner.

Most of the time, our processing time is 1-4 business days, but during our busiest seasons, it can take a little longer (about 5-8 business days). Occasionally, we offer pre-orders for items before they’re officially available, and when we do, we’ll always share the specific processing and shipping details for those orders in the order confirmation.
Our fulfillment team, based in Utah, works Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM PT, and takes a break for all major U.S. holidays.

We want you to love your purchase! Unused, unopened items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund (minus shipping). Just make sure it’s in new condition and original packaging. Sale items are final sale and are not returnable.
Returns are only available for orders shipped within the contiguous U.S.
We’re not able to accept returns from international addresses, U.S. territories, or Hawaii and Alaska at this time.
Start your return through our Returns Portal and we’ll send you a prepaid label once it’s approved. Return shipping is $8 unless we made a mistake or your item arrived damaged.
No direct exchanges, but you’re welcome to return and place a new order. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days once your return is received.
Questions or something arrived damaged? Submit a request (including a photo of the damage) within 7 days, we’ll make it right!
Choosing between a Sunday or Monday start just comes down to how you like your week to begin. A Sunday start places Sunday as the first day in your weekly layout, while a Monday start shifts everything so the weekend is grouped together at the end. Totally up to your planning style!

No matter how busy life gets (juggling kids, work, school, or all of the above) our planners are designed to help you manage everything on your plate. The real key is figuring out how your brain likes to see everything organized.
Not sure where to begin? Here are some of the most common things we hear from our community (maybe one sounds like you):
“I like my week to flow left to right, with plenty of open space to jot down my plans, tasks, and notes.”
That’s The Nancy planner, if you don’t need to schedule by the hour but want room to write and separate different parts of your day.
“I must time block all of my day.”
If that’s you, The Anne planner is a great fit. With lined columns, you can plan your day top to bottom by time, by category, or as one big to-do list. Psst...The Scout planner is also a good option for time-blockers.
“I’m more about tasks than specific times, and I love seeing a big monthly calendar.”
The Rose planner pairs a full monthly spread with a four-column layout for tasks, goals, or categories—perfect if you keep your schedule digital, use the Kanban method, or like pulling from a master list based on your time and energy.
“I want a spiral-bound planner with vertical days, but shorter columns that still give me plenty of room.”
That’s The Scout planner, known for its short pages at the bottom and a monthly view that lines up perfectly with the weekly layout.
“I’m an educator and need sections to organize my day by subjects or classes Monday through Friday.”
The Valerie planner gives you five blocks per day. Need more room? You can always split a block or two for planning periods or meetings. If these are sold out, you can choose another planner and add in our block inserts to create a setup that works for you!
“I like to keep it simple, with just a big monthly calendar to see the whole picture.”
The Carmen planner keeps things minimal, great on its own or as a supplement for meal planning and other schedules.
“I’m overwhelmed and just need to pick something to get started.”
We hear you! The Rose planner is a great place to begin. It's simple, flexible, and easy to build on. You can try adding Horizontal or Vertical inserts so that you can test out which weekly layout you'd prefer.
Choosing a planner can feel like picking your favorite ice cream flavor, so many great options! Our best advice? Check out our Compare Our Planners page for the full scoop on each layout. Don’t stress about finding the “perfect” one right away; sometimes the best way is to start with one that feels right and adjust as you go.
You can check our Restock Page for details on when items might be restocking. As a general rule, once a pattern is sold out, we typically don’t restock it, we try to plan for enough inventory when each collection launches. That said, sometimes we don’t realize just how popular something will be (The Scout, anyone?), and we make adjustments when we can. If you’re crossing your fingers for a comeback, be sure to sign up for restock notifications on the product page just in case!

I am a first time Laurel Denise planner person. I am using the small Rose for this year and am trying to figure out my best setup. I have probably watched most of the videos, some of them more than once. I am doing the retrospective on a regular weekly basis and am attempting to determine which planner to get for next year. Having this printable has helped me to at least eliminate some of the planners and/or sizes by being able to see the actual sizes of the spaces each planner has to write in. I love the larger calendar boxes in the Rose and I love that I can see my whole big picture when my planner is open for each month. This printable is giving me ideas on the sizes of spaces in the Nancy and the Scout planners that I might want to consider purchasing for next year. For now, this printable is giving me additional ideas as I try to maximize the flexibility I have in my beautiful little Bewitching Rose and, along with the videos, helps me in my quest to create the right structure with the planner I have now. For the month of June I have decided to let Rose be Rose and not try to make her work like Nancy or Scout. I am so impressed with Laurel Denise. The dedication that you all have to improving your products and customer experience is phenomenal. You all make a great team. Whichever planner I decide to plan with next, it will definitely be from Laurel Denise.

These printable size comparisons gave me such confidence in choosing the right planner for me (turns out it's a Large Scout ❤️). I can't believe no planner company has done this before!! The size comparison chart is a fantastic tool. I really like a planner that feels portable, so was looking at the small sizes. Ended up ordering the Jo and the small Scout before downloading this chart, when the planners arrived, I really love the planners, I used sticky notes in the Scout to see if I could make it work. It was just too small of spaces. That is where this chart came in. I ended up returning Scout and getting the small Rose. If i had gotten the chart first I would have realized I needed the space of the Rose. I have just ordered inserts to make it work for all my needs. Love that LD had so many insert options.
