who i am:
laurel “lolly” smith, owner and designer of laurel denise; believer in jesus christ; mom to baby girl; wife to a cute husband; resident of charlottesville, va.
what i do:
i use my handwriting to create sweet jewelry pieces filled with inspiration and happiness.
why i’m here:
in 2005, i was working in washington, dc and i remembered a dream i’d had the night before where i was using new tools and materials to create jewelry – tools and materials i’d never used before! i left work early that day and rushed home to my computer so i could research and plan and figure it out. six months later, due to my slightly obsessive and, well, “determined” personality, i had a website and my first orders. the rest, as they say, is history. history filled with wonderful, scary, amazing moments, wonderful people who have helped and encouraged, and many backward and forward steps along with way.
the juicy details:
i graduated from james madison university in 2003 with a degree in studio art and the man i’d marry a few years later. i’ve lived in charlottesville, va and washington, dc and hoboken, nj and have now returned to charlottesville, va where i live super happily with my cute husband and our two sweet girls.
